Saying goodbye is never easy.
Twenty eight years ago I started at the Leader-Telegram in Rice Lake. I wasn’t the first choice for the position of the Rice Lake Bureau Chief. I was considered a bit young and inexperienced to be in a bureau by myself, largely unsupervised, but it worked.
A couple years later when the Menomonie Bureau opened up at the Leader-Telegram, I jumped at the chance because I wanted to work in a community that was growing with a vibrant 4-year university – UW-Stout.
Twenty six years later, I am leaving the newspaper industry to go work in news and communications at that very same university that helped attract me to the Menomonie community in the first place.
Change is hard, but exciting.
This change gives me an opportunity to continue to write about UW-Stout, the alumni and the students there. I will still be able to keep the contacts and friends I have made over the years in Menomonie and Dunn County, an area I love and call home.
This really is not goodbye.
It is hello to a new adventure.
