Creating benefits to attract workers will be explained

Offering competitive benefits to attract and retain employees in the current labor market will be the topic of a Tuesday business luncheon in downtown Eau Claire.

Jen Rust Anderson, an attorney at Altoona firm Prairieview Law, will discuss standard and nontraditional benefits during her presentation at noon at the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce, 101 N. Farwell St.

Alternative health plans, flexible scheduling, cafeteria plans and other benefits that small employers could offer will be part of the discussion.

Attending her presentation costs $20 for chamber members or $40 for nonmembers, which includes lunch.

Leadership workshop will be Oct. 3 at UW-Eau Claire

A workshop on creating strong leaders inside an organization will be taught in the afternoon on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at UW-Eau Claire.

Intended for business professionals, managers, supervisors and others who want to improve their leadership skills, the workshop will be 1 to 3 p.m. in the Dakota Ballroom at the Davies Student Center, 77 Roosevelt Ave.

Chris Hinrichs, who served as adjunct faculty for 30 years at the UW-Madison School of Business, will lead the workshop by sharing tactics on improving your leadership skills and motivating others to do the same.

Advice on establishing a climate of trust, effective leadership styles, assessing employee performance and sought-after character traits will be given, along with research backing up those concepts.
