NPR Tiny Desk winner comes to The Oxbow
Violinist and songwriter Gaelynn Lea will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at The Oxbow Hotel, 516 Galloway St.
Lea’s new album, “Learning How to Stay,” will be released the same day.
Lea won NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest in 2016, cementing her ambitions that spanned two decades working as a musician. The contest consisted of sitting at a desk and recording an original song. She began touring in Sept. 2016 with her husband, Paul, according to her website. Lea has Brittle Bones Disease and performs in a wheelchair, playing the violin upright.
Tickets to her show are $10 in advance or $12 the day of the show. Advance tickets can be purchased at volumeonetickets.org.
