Library opens new art exhibit
Chippewa County resident and Montana native Allan Servoss will have his artwork featured in “Far From the Madding Crowd,” an exhibit on display from Sunday, Sept. 9, through Monday, Oct. 15, at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library, 400 Eau Claire St. The gallery is on the library’s second floor.
Colored pencil is Servoss’ tool of choice, and more than two dozen of his works in that medium will be featured.
Servoss has spent much of the fall and winter of 2017 creating spaces to retreat, and believes that there are always things in human society that compel one to wish to escape, according to a news release from the library.
He has been working on his art for more than 40 years, with exhibits at galleries, colleges and museums around the nation. His work has been featured in publications such as “American Artist,” “International Artist” and “American Artist Drawing magazines.
He currently lives and works with his wife, Gail, east of New Auburn.
An artist reception will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in the library’s gallery.
