Editor’s note: The Eau Claire City-County Health Department checks area licensed food establishments, including restaurants and food retailers. The Leader-Telegram details “priority” violations, defined as state code violations with potential to contribute to food contamination, illness or environmental health hazard, and reports “priority foundation” violations, which support priority violations, found in routine inspections. Eau Claire

Ninja Japanese and Chinese Restaurant, 405 S. Barstow St., Dec. 22. Four priority violations: Food employee observed improperly washing hands while still wearing disposable gloves (corrected); rice improperly reheated to less than 135 degrees (corrected); chlorine sanitizer in dish machine is not being used according to label use instructions (corrected); bleach in sanitizer bucket is not being used according to manufacturer’s use directions (corrected). One priority foundation violation.

Chick-A-Dee’s Family Restaurant, 1928 Third St., Dec. 27. No violations.

Mona Lisa’s, 428 Water St.,  Dec. 27. Two priority foundation violations.

National Presto Industries, 3925 N. Hastings Way, Dec. 27. One priority violation: Apples in the customer self-service area are not protected from contamination (corrected). Two priority foundation violations.

Pizza Del Re, 911 N. Hastings Way, Dec. 27. Two priority violations: Employee observed handling money and then not washing hands before putting gloves on and handling food (corrected); chocolate milk, white milk, lettuce, shredded cheese and cream of cauliflower soup in coolers cold-held above 41 degrees (repeat, corrected). Four priority foundation violations.

Bull Pen Bar, 1522 Bellinger St., Dec. 28. One priority violation: No air gap provided on ice bin behind bar. One priority foundation violation.

Forage, 930 Galloway St.,  Dec. 28. One priority foundation violation.

Houligans Steak & Seafood Pub, 415 S. Barstow St., Dec. 28. Two priority violations: Rosemary to be used for plate garnish stored under raw meat and raw beef stored above raw swordfish in kitchen cooler (corrected); sanitizer is not being used according to manufacturer’s use directions (corrected). One priority foundation violation.

Bowl-Winkle’s, 1616 N. Clairemont Ave., Dec. 29. One priority violation: Toxic oven/​fryer cleaner stored adjacent to popcorn butter and fryer oil near dish machine behind bar (corrected). One priority foundation violation.

Toppers Pizza, 1616 N. Clairemont Ave., Dec. 29. One priority violation: Ranch cups labeled “keep refrigerated” stored at room temperature (repeat, corrected). Two priority foundation violations.
