Expecting a snowstorm on Thursday, the city of Eau Claire is putting its alternate-side parking law into effect.

Starting at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, vehicles parked along the street must be on the side that corresponds to the day of the week.

On Thursday cars should be parked on the side with odd-numbered addresses because the date is Jan. 11. On Friday, cars will need to be moved to the other side of the street.

The odd-even parking rules are in effect from midnight until 5 p.m.

A city notice sent Wednesday evening expects the parking rules will be in effect until Saturday evening as plow crews clear snow off streets.

The Eau Claire area forecast calls for 4 to 8 inches of snow to fall on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
