BLACK RIVER FALLS — Dialing 911 for emergencies from a cellphone in Jackson and Monroe counties stopped working at midday Thursday.
Jackson County Emergency Management did not have a timeline for restoring the service when it sent out statement of the problem at 1:30 p.m.
During the outage, residents of the two counties must call nonemergency numbers to reach a 911 operator. In Jackson County, that number is 715-284-5357, ext. 180. In Monroe County, the number is 608-269-8712.
Calling 911 from a landline phone still works, according to the statement.
