Eau Claire police have arrested a man they believe is connected to summer burglaries in the Randall Park Neighborhood.

According to the Eau Claire Police Department:

Joshua M. Watson, 21, was arrested on Friday for burglary after police discovered him entering a residence on the 400 block of Chippewa Street in the early morning hours. While Watson did not steal anything on that occasion, police determined that Watson does not know those who live at the residence and did not have permission to be there.

Police saw Watson enter the residence and use the light emitted from his cell phone for about 10 minutes while inside the residence. After Watson left, officers tried to make contact with him. Watson immediately began running, but police caught and arrested him a short distance later.

Police determined Watson was going through purses in the residence’s dining room.

Watson is believed to be associated with other burglaries in the neighborhood. Police noticed an increase in burglaries in the Randall Park Neighborhood at the beginning of the summer, and daily crime analyst reviews uncovered 20 burglaries in the area that appeared to be connected based on time, location and common targets.

The police department’s detective division continues to work on thoses cases and will reach out to those who have been victimized.
