CHIPPEWA FALLS — Authorities on Wednesday identified a body that was found Tuesday afternoon in Otter Lake, north of Stanley.
According to the state Department of Natural Resources Bureau of Law Enforcement, Richard Mohr, 83, of rural Holcombe died of drowning.
Boaters saw an unoccupied pontoon boat on the lake and later saw a body in the water, Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk said.
“They found him near the pontoon,” he said. “They couldn’t get him out of the water.”
The DNR responded to the scene and pulled the body from the lake, located in the town of Colburn. The investigation is ongoing.
