An Eau Claire man is accused of stalking and groping a former female co-worker.
Garland C. Balmer, 57, 3705 McElroy St., was charged Tuesday in Eau Claire County Court with a felony count of stalking and a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree sexual assault.
According to the criminal complaint:
The woman told police she and Balmer worked at the same business up until about a year ago when she left for a different position.
While at work, the woman said Balmer would make inappropriate comments to her that were sexual in nature.
Balmer would also make comments to the woman about her home and places she had visited. These are things Balmer would not have known unless he was close by or following her, the woman said.
The woman ran into Balmer in October while grocery shopping and he again made sexual comments to her.
When she was grocery shopping Nov. 11 at the Eau Claire Walmart, the woman discovered Balmer had parked next to her vehicle.
After she loaded her groceries into her car, Balmer grabbed the woman’s breast, buttocks and crotch area.
Balmer emailed the woman and she told him to leave her alone.
The woman told police she never had a sexual relationship with Balmer and had never done anything to give him the idea that she wanted one.
Balmer told a police officer he felt lousy about what he had done and that it was wrong.
