Woman charged with firing gun, driving drunk
CHIPPEWA FALLS — A Lake Hallie woman accused of firing several rounds from a handgun in her home, then driving drunk, has been charged in Chippewa County Court.
Dorene D. Maclachlan, 60, 13171 39th Ave., was charged with fourth-offense drunken driving, operating a firearm while intoxicated and disorderly conduct.
She will appear in court Tuesday.
According to the criminal complaint:
The incident occurred at her Lake Hallie home Oct. 30. A roommate told police he came home and observed gunshot holes in the walls of the hallway, bedroom and bathroom. Officers found bullets for a .44-caliber pistol.
The roommate said Maclachlan had left the home in her vehicle. Officers learned she crashed her car into a tree on 40th Avenue. She was arrested and taken to a nearby hospital for a blood draw, which showed she had a 0.187 blood alcohol level, more than twice the legal limit to drive in Wisconsin.
Online court records show she was convicted of third-offense drunken driving in Chippewa County Court in 2010.
