One person was killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Jackson County.
The crash, reported shortly after noon, occurred on U.S. 12 in the town of Alma, according to Patrol Sgt. Evan Mazur of the Jackson County sheriff’s office.
When emergency crews and deputies arrived, they found two vehicles that had suffered severe damage. One driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was taken to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The names of the victims were not immediately released.
U.S. 12 was closed to traffic for about four hours as a result of the crash, Mazur reported.
Other agencies that assisted at the site were the Wisconsin State Patrol, Merrillan Police Department, Merrillan Fire and First Responders, and the Black River Falls Fire Department.
