Two people are being held in the Clark County Jail after a supposed purse snatching led to discovery of about 39 grams of crystal methamphetamine and about two grams of marijuana.
Samantha J. Waterbury, 24, of Minnesota, is being charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of THC and drug paraphernalia and obstruction. Dominic L. Koch, 24, of St. Croix Falls, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver narcotics and obstruction.
According to a news release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the 911 center received a call on March 9 at 3:29 p.m. stating someone had stolen a purse in Fairchild.
Police caught up with the vehicle that was headed east on Highway 10 toward Neillsville. A sergeant located the vehicle and stopped it west of Neillsville by River Avenue. A local K9 unit was requested to assist.
Waterbury and Koch denied being in Fairchild, saying they were coming from Hudson. They told the sergeant there weren’t any drugs or weapons in the vehicle.
The K9 unit alerted on the vehicle, which was searched. Crystal meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found. There were also eight cell phones, one computer and two iPads found. The missing purse was not located.
Waterbury is being held on a $500 cash bond and Koch is being held under a probation hold and a $20,000 cash bond.
