Body released in Dunn County stabbing case
MENOMONIE — The body of a stabbing victim in Dunn County is being released this week to his family more than three months after the incident took his life.
Dunn County authorities on March 23 found the body of Alexander L. Woodworth, 24, in a car parked in the rural Dunn County town of Spring Brook. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the county medical examiner.
An autopsy by the Ramsey County (Minn.) medical examiner’s office found 16 stab wounds on Woodworth’s body.
Ezra J. McCandless, 20, of Stanley is being charged with first-degree intentional homicide. Her attorney, Aaron Nelson, entered a not guilty plea on her behalf. McCandless remains in the Dunn County Jail.
Nelson had previously said he may request an independent examination of the body, but on Monday he said he will not pursue this action.
McCandless is scheduled for a motion hearing on Aug. 23.
