ALTOONA — City officials are asking for the public’s help reducing recent vandalism in River Prairie Park.
City Administrator Mike Golat said the lights of the base of a sculpture in the park were damaged, apparently sometime during the past weekend. The lenses on lights used to illuminate the sculpture were broken.
Lights used to light some other park sculptures also were damaged. In a video distributed by the city Tuesday, Golat urged people to call police if they see suspicious activity at the park.
The park is monitored by security cameras and city staff are reviewing footage to see who may be responsible for the damaged lights, he said. Residents can call the Altoona Police Department’s non-emergency number, 715-839-4972, to report anyone damaging the park.
“This is a beautiful park,” Golat said. “We need to work together to keep it beautiful.”
