State Sen. Patty Schachtner, D-Somerset, will host public town hall events on Thursday, Aug. 2, in Rice Lake and Amery to provide information and collect feedback from Wisconsin residents about the Foxconn Technology Group plant planned in southeastern Wisconsin and the state subsidies that led to the deal.

In less than a year, the public cost of this project has increased from an original estimate of $3 billion to $4.5 billion, Schachtner said in a news release.

The town hall meetings will offer area residents an opportunity to meet with their state senators, learn more about the cost to taxpayers and comment on potential environmental risks or other aspects of the project.

The meetings are planned from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Rice Lake Public Library, 2 E. Marshall St.; and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Amery Area Public Library-Central Library, 225 Scholl St.
