MENOMONIE — Charges have been filed in Dunn County Court against the man that was shot by officers last week.
Reese A. Diesterhaft, 23, has been charged with burglary with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm, criminal damage to property, fleeing officers and disorderly conduct.
On Aug. 7, Diesterhaft was shot by Eau Claire County sheriff’s deputies after a high-speed chase that started in Dunn County.
Diesterhaft was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to statements from the Dunn and Eau Claire County sheriff’s offices last week:
Dunn County sheriff’s office received a report at 1:14 p.m. of a man harassing a woman in the town of Rock Creek.
A deputy later made contact with Diesterhaft in Caryville, and he left the scene in his vehicle.
Diesterhaft was later found in the Eau Claire County town of Brunswick where he got out of his vehicle and confronted deputies with a weapon. Two Eau Claire County deputies fired at Diesterhaft and hit him.
Diesterhaft is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Friday.
