MENOMONIE — A man is dead and a woman is left with serious injuries after the motorcycles they were driving collided with one another Saturday afternoon on Highway 64 in the Dunn County town of New Haven, according to sheriff’s officials.

According to a statement from the sheriff’s office:

Authorities received a report of two motorcycles involved in a crash at 1:29 p.m. Saturday.

It was learned that a group of motorcycles was traveling eastbound on Highway 64 with intentions to turn right onto Highway Q. While approaching the turn, an adult male motorcycle driver struck the rear of the motorcycle in front of him, which was driven by an adult female.

Both operators were ejected from their motorcycles. Neither was wearing a helmet.

The female was transported by Boyceville ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System-Red Cedar in Menomonie with serious injuries.

Lifesaving measures were attempted with the male, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers are from Minnesota, but identification won’t be released until family members have been notified.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
