Festival Foods opened a U.S. Postal Service substation recently inside its store on Eau Claire’s west side and intends to do the same soon at its east side location. WHITEHALL — Trempealeau County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who was passed out in his car in a parking lot after using methamphetamine for days. Jonathan D. An Eau Claire man will spend one year on probation for viewing pornography on two occasions at the UW-Eau Claire library. Eric J. Best, 54, 618 S. Barstow St., pleaded no contest in Eau Claire County Court to two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct. Judge John Manydeeds fined Best $886. A man was killed Friday morning in Dunn County when he was struck by a tire as he worked on it. The Dunn County sheriff’s office received a report at about 8:30 a.m. Friday of a tire that had blown, causing head trauma to an adult male who was working on it. An Eau Claire ambulance service and Dunn County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 9600 block of Highway E in the town of Spring Brook, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Eau Claire police are working to identify a deceased male found Thursday afternoon near Dells Pond. Police received a report of a deceased male along the embankment of Dells Pond at the dead end of Churchill Street at 2:12 p.m. Officers investigated and no foul play is suspected, Eau Claire Police spokeswoman Bridget Coit said Friday. “Investigators are working diligently to identify the body and notify any family,” Coit said.
