Festival Foods opened a U.S. Postal Service substation recently inside its store on Eau Claire’s west side and intends to do the same soon at its east side location.
The Onalaska-based grocery store chain announced Friday that the postal service desk had opened at its 2615 N. Clairemont Ave. store.
The 2717 Birch St. store will add postal services in coming months, a news release from the chain said.
“This was something we really wanted to make happen for our Eau Claire guests,” said Mark Skogen, Festival Foods president and CEO.
At one time, Eau Claire had five postal substations, but that had dwindled in recent years as different stores closed, leaving just one at the city’s first Festival Foods, 3007 Mall Drive, until Friday’s announcement.
Postal substations offer many of the services found at post offices, but are located inside stores often with longer service hours.
