Dove Healthcare-South in Eau Claire fired an employee Friday that used social media to send an inappropriate photo of one of its residents to a friend, according to Jeremy Kiley, regional director of operations for the company.
The employee, a certified nursing assistant who Dove did not identify, sent the photo via Snapchat to a friend on Thursday, and the friend immediately alerted Dove officials of the policy infraction.
“We immediately notified and expressed our apologies to the resident and family members impacted,” Kiley said in a statement.
Dove also notified local law enforcement and the state Department of Health Services, and the Eau Claire police are investigating the incident.
Kiley insisted the infraction was an isolated event and said Dove prides itself on its long history of providing quality care in a respectful and dignified manner.
Dove Healthcare-South, 3656 Mall Drive, is a 50-bed skilled nursing facility that offers short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.
