PAC too influential I have often wondered why two elderly men (the Koch brothers) worth $100 billion would be so deeply invested in politics in states where they cannot vote. Their super PAC, Americans for Prosperity, has a nice ring to it. Seems like it would benefit all Americans. Wrong. It is a massive slush fund that buys people like our current governor, loads of congressmen and senators. It even funds campaigns as far down the food chain as school board members. The brothers have goals

City overreach I am confused by the recent action taken by the Eau Claire City Council regarding an ordinance to outlaw conversion therapy, which as I understand is a faith-based effort to assist gender-confused persons using traditional and biblically-based approaches. I believe the intended outcome is a well-adjusted, productive person who lives their lives in accordance with birth gender. For the life of me I cannot understand why this is an issue for a city council to act upon. We allow

Dems’ behavior poor I know the word “illegal” is not recognized by the liberal Democrats and it seems like common sense is also a lost art. Watching their attack mode in action on the news is almost embarrassing to me and I am a conservative. I can’t believe people allow themselves to become so enraged that they act like animals. The rudeness, vulgarity and shout-in-your face type of protests have no place in our country. If you pay attention to the crowds of rude

Pronschinske one of the good politicians When it comes to politicians, most people can take them or leave them. I think the majority of people would leave them. I recently had the opportunity to serve with one of our local politicians, Assemblyman Treig Pronschinske. We had served together on the Mondovi City Council, Treig as mayor and I as president of the council. During our public service together, we learned the city was faced with major financial and personnel issues. He knew there

Panelist goes too far Wow, recently I heard (sexual expletives) broadcast on CNN by a panel member. If credits make a difference, my master’s degree reads audio visual education. Such sexual material should not be broadcast during this time frame. Imagine explaining the meanings of these words to a preschool child. One should not be surprised that President Trump rags on this channel. They do have issues. Their coverage has failed to provide information about the great strides schools
