For the second straight calendar year, runner Aubrey Roberts is the Leader-Telegram's top female athlete. The former Memorial star broke a WIAA Division 1 state meet record in the 3,200 last spring when she crossed the line first in 10:13.68, besting a 31-year-old mark. She then went on to earn All-Big Ten and all-region honors in her freshman cross country season at Division I Northwestern. While home for winter break, she sat down with Leader-Telegram sports reporter Nick Erickson to discuss her accolade-filled year.
