BUFFALO — Eau Claire native Jake McCabe scored his first goal of the season as the Buffalo Sabres knocked off the Dallas Stars 4-1 Monday.
In a 1-0 Buffalo lead in the first period, Dallas turned it over to McCabe from behind the net, and the former Memorial skater zipped a shot past the goalie into the net for what would turn out to be the game-winning goal after the Stars scored their one goal at the end of the period.
It was McCabe’s first season after he scored four last year in first full go around in the league.
Tyler Ennis scored 19 seconds into the first period and Jack Eichel had the final two goals. It was Ennis’ first game back after missing 30 games with a groin injury that required surgery.
Robin Lehner made 31 saves after missing the past three games with an illness.
The Sabres snapped a two-game losing streak and beat the Stars for the first time in four matchups.
nts, six rebounds, five assists and three blocks for the Warriors in a much-hyped matchup merely weeks after Golden State lost 109-108 in Cleveland on Christmas.
