Owen Hamilton scored 33 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Prescott to a 74-67 win over Lake Mills in a WIAA Division 3 boys basketball state semifinal Thursday at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Hamilton, a 7-foot-1 senior who has signed to play at Division I Northern Illinois, scored 19 points in the second half for the Cardinals, who trailed by eight points with eight minutes left before coming from behind to win.
Petey Brookshaw scored 14 points and Luke Murphy had 11 assists for Prescott, which advanced to state championship game for the first time in program history.
Nick Simon hit a 3-pointer with 3:58 left to tie the game. After a Hamilton lay-up gave the Cardinals the lead, Simon hit another 3 to extend the lead. Ben Dunkleberger responded with back-to-back 3s for the L-Cats, but Joe Roosen hit a 3-pointer of his own and Brookshaw and Hamilton put the game away at the free-throw line.
Alex Ranney scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures for Lake Mills.
Xavier 81, Ripon 74: Sam Ferris scored 25 points and Hunter Plamann had 22 for Xavier, which advanced to the state title game for the third straight season.
Eddie Muench’s 26 points paced Ripon.
Destiny 71, Roncalli 54: Romaine Robinson had 19 points and Sarion McGee added nine points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for Destiny, which will play Darlington on Saturday for the title in its first trip to Madison. Mitchel Schneider had a game-high 22 points for the Jets.
