College Roundup

College roundup (11/18): Jansen's four-goal night lifts Blugolds

A night after going toe to toe with No. 1 St. Norbert, the UW-Eau Claire men’s hockey team used that energy and pounced on Lawrence 4-1 in nonconference action Saturday night at Hobbs Ice Center. 

Mac Jansen scored all four goals for the Blugolds, one away from the all-time single-game school record set by Adam Knochenmus, who tallied five against UW-Stout on Dec. 3, 2015. 

The Blugolds outshot Lawrence 43-16.

Marian 3, UW-Stout 0: The Sabers had two power-play goals and shut down the Blue Devils. 

Women’s hockey

UW-River Falls 4, UW-Eau Claire 1: Elizabeth Bauer scored a first-period goal, but the No. 2 Falcons scored four unanswered tallies to topple the No. 10 Blugolds. 

Wrestlers topple Titans

The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team beat UW-Oshkosh 36-9 in WIAC action on Saturday night at the McPhee Center.

Jordan Meyer and Carter Focht earned pins for the Blugolds. 

Blugolds fall to 0-2

George Diekelman had 23 points on 14 made free throws, but the UW-Eau Claire men’s basketball team lost at St. Olaf 75-61 on Saturday night in Northfield, Minn.

The nonconference loss dropped the Blugolds to 0-2.

Colorado College 82, UW-Stout 80 (OT): Isaac Elliott had 25 points, but the Blue Devils fell in overtime.
