Chris Duff recorded his second consecutive 20-point game, but UW-Eau Claire fell to UW-Stevens Point 70-61 in WIAC men’s basketball action Saturday night at Quandt Fieldhouse in Stevens Point.
The loss dropped the Blugolds (8-7) to 0-4 in conference play.
Duff followed up a 21-point game Wednesday against UW-Whitewater with a 27-point outing Saturday.
George Diekelman and Ben Widdes joined Duff in double figures, Diekelman with 11 and Widdes with 10. But the rest of the Blugolds combined for only 13 points.
Diekelman added five assists.
MJ Delmore and Canon O’Heron each scored 15 points to lead the first-place Pointers (10-5, 4-0). Nate Dodge had 10 points.
UW-Stevens Point outrebounded UW-Eau Claire 34-23 and made twice as many trips to the free-throw line. The Blugolds were 6-for-10 from the foul line, while the Pointers were 16-for-20.
UW-Whitewater 69, UW-Stout 55: Isaac Elliot scored a game-high 24 points, but the fifth-ranked Warhawks pulled away late from the Blue Devils at Kachel Gymnasium in Whitewater.
Andrew Brown led UW-Whitewater (13-2, 3-1) with 20 points and was 4-for-5 from beyond the 3-point line. Dalton Menke added 11 points, while David Sachs chipped in 10.
Joe Duty was the other Blue Devils scorer in double figures. He netted 10.
UW-Stout (6-9, 0-4) outrebounded the Warhawks 36-28, although it committed 19 turnovers.
Rice Lake graduate Brandyn Christman added eight points for the Blue Devils.
UW-Oshkosh 67, UW-River Falls 58: Ben Boots had 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals as the No. 13 Titans knocked off the No. 7 Falcons at Kolf Sports Center in Oshkosh.
UW-Oshkosh led UW-River Falls for the final 29:37.
UW-Platteville 63, UW-La Crosse 62: Matt Oestreich hit a jumper with 3 seconds remaining to lift the Pioneers on Bo Ryan Court in Platteville.
Oestreich scored 15 points, while Clay Gerds added 14.
Taulvish McCray scored 11 points for the Eagles.
UW-Whitewater 76, UW-Stout 67: Bailey Diersen scored 19 points and Amber Fabeck added 14, but the Blue Devils fell to the Warhawks at Johnson Fieldhouse in Menomonie.
North grad Brianna Banks scored four points for UW-Stout.
Brroke Trewyn paced three Warhawks in double figures with 17 points. Andrea Meinert added 13 and Malia Smith 11.
UW-Oshkosh 69, UW-River Falls 62: The Titans knocked off the WIAC’s lone remaining unbeaten team at Page Arena in River Falls.
Eliza Campbell led the charge with 20 points, while Melanie Schneider added 17 for UW-Oshkosh (13-2, 2-2).
Brynn Lilijander had 21 points to lead the Falcons (12-2, 3-1).
UW-La Crosse 75, UW-Platteville 55: Dani Craig led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points, and the Eagles rolled at Mitchell Hall in La Crosse.
The Eagles (10-5, 3-1) hit 13 3-pointers, including five from Craig.
Kassie Hansen (13 points) and Blaire Lutes (12) were the only scorers in double figures for the Pioneers (5-10, 1-3).
