The UW-Eau Claire men’s hockey team shook off an overtime loss on Thursday and scored three third-period goals to knock off St. Olaf 4-2 in nonconference action on Saturday night in Northfield, Minn.
Tyler Tomberlin scored the game-winning goal 6:31 into the third period. Alex Strand added an insurance tally on assists from Lucas Kohls and former Regis/McDonell standout Braxton Collins.
Kyle Lee and Jacob Wolter also scored goals for UW-Eau Claire, which outshot the Oles 51-22.
St. Olaf is coached by former UW-Eau Claire and Wisconsin coach Mike Eaves.
Augsburg 6, UW-Stout 2: The Auggies scored the game’s first four goals, and the Blue Devils could never recover.
Jonathan Marzec and Adam Kresl both scored goals for UW-Stout.
UW-Eau Claire 7, Lake Forest (Ill.) 0: A night after beating the Foresters in overtime, the Blugolds left little doubt on Saturday at Hobbs Ice Center.
Holly Turnbull and Hanna Zavoral both scored a pair of goals. Emma Peterson, Courtney Wittig and Kelly Knetter also netted goals.
UW-Eau Claire split matches on its final day of the Budd Whitehall Duals in Williamsport, Penn.
The Blugolds lost to SUNY-Cortland 28-22 before beating Springfield 28-18.
Casey Hedrington, Jordan Meyer, Tyler Demo and Evan Lawrence earned pinfalls on the day.
