Ski jumping: Urlaub wins in Ishpeming

Andrew Urlaub was back in form Wednesday night as he won Junior Class by a wide margin in a U.S. Cup and 5-Hills Series tournament at Suicide Hill in Ishpeming, Mich. 

The 16-year-old Flying Eagle had jumps of 95½ and 92½ meters (314 and 304 feet) for 238.5 points to finish well ahead of runner-up Decker Dean of Steamboat Springs, Colo. Dean, who won at Silver Mine Hill last weekend, was a distant second with 216.0 points. 

The Class A winner was Slovenia’s Nik Fabijan, who repeated his win at Silver Mine with jumps of 97½ and 97 meters (320-318 feet) for 259.0 points. Peter Lojze of Slovenia was second and Riku Tahkavvori of Finland third.

— In the Nordic combined event at the Eau Claire tournament, Beckett Ledger of Park City, Utah, won U20 division over Aiden Ripp of Cloquet, Minn. Steamboat Springs’ Erik Belshaw was the U16 champion.
