UW-Eau Claire had a big day Saturday at the WIAC track and field outdoor championships on Saturday in River Falls with the women taking second and the men sixth.
Megan Wallace won the heptathlon, Erica Oawster won the shot put and Ashleigh Buergi won the 400-meter hurdles. The Blugolds swept the top three in the shot put with JoHannah Theisen taking second and Kassandra Lueck third. On the men’s side, David Kornack won the shot put.
For UW-Stout, Sam Elsner won the discus, while Stephanie Pladies won the high jump, besting UW-Eau Claire’s Marin Munos.
SOFTBALL: UW-Stout eliminated UW-Eau Claire from the WIAC tournament with a 4-3 win at Whitewater, but the Blue Devils later saw their season come to an end in a 7-1 loss to UW-Oshkosh.
UW-Stout plated two runs in the sixth to rally past the Blugolds, scoring one run on a bunt single by Kyncaide Diedrich and another when Beth Wood was hit by a pitch. Abbey Place and Gretchen Arneson drove in runs for UW-Eau Claire.
MEN’S GOLF: UW-Eau Claire shot took second place at the Bobby Krig Invitational in New Prauge, Minn., with Alex Rogan earning medalist honors and Ryan Isaacson tying for second.
