Baseball: UW-Stout drops marathon DH to UW-La Crosse

In likely the longest game in UW-Stout baseball history, the Blue Devils fell 3-2 in 17 innings to UW-La Crosse on Tuesday in Menomonie. The Eagles also won a rain-shortened nightcap 8-3 in five innings.

Brad Rindfleisch threw nine innings of no-hit ball for the Blue Devils in relief of Jack Donahue. He walked just one hitter during the stretch. Caleb Willems got the win for the Eagles after throwing nine scoreless innings of his own.

Kasey Bass and Hunter Merrill hit solo home runs for UW-Stout in the opener. Alex Robson’s RBI single in the 17th was the winner.

Jon Krueger’s three-run homer was the only offense for the Blue Devils in the second game.
