The Eau Claire Cavaliers scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to defeat the Tilden Tigers 9-8 in a crucial Chippewa River Baseball League North Division matchup on Tuesday.
The game pitted the top two teams in the North against one another, with Eau Claire entering the game holding a 1.5-game lead in the standings. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead with a run in the first inning and both teams scored three in the fourth.
After Tilden scored once more in the sixth to take a 5-3 lead, the Cavs stormed back with their five-run seventh. The Tigers answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at eight.
Eau Claire grabbed the win with the game’s final run in the eighth.
Jordan Wilson went 5-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs for the Cavaliers, and Caleb Hurt was 4-for-4 with a homer and two runs driven in. Alex Ruf and Sam Sorenson had three hits apiece for Tilden.
