The UW-Eau Claire athletic department announced the hiring of Zac Ruch as head strength and sports performance coach on Wednesday.
According to a release, Ruch has spent over 12 years directing and leading strength and conditioning programs at the professional, collegiate and high school levels.
Ruch has worked with the Colorado Rockies and also worked with pro athletes at Velocity Training Center in Edina, Minn.
He also worked as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of Minnesota, working specifically with baseball, softball, track and field, gymnastics, volleyball, hockey, soccer and swim and dive teams.
The UW-La Crosse graduate spent eight years at the high school level, coaching football, powerlifting, track and field and strength and conditioning.
A native of Monroe, Ruch got his master’s degree in sport and exercise science from Minnesota in 2017.
UWEC earns academic award
The UW-Eau Claire men’s basketball team earned a team academic excellence award from the National Association of College Basketball Coaches.
To get recognition, teams must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. It’s the sixth consecutive season the Blugolds have been awarded with the honor.
