The Eau Claire Express surrendered three runs in the 10th inning to lose 4-1 to the Willmar Stingers in extra innings on Wednesday night at Carson Park.
The Express held a 1-0 lead entering the ninth inning thanks to a solo home run from Nick Brueser in the sixth, and got the Stingers down to their final strike with the bases empty. Jayson Newman saved the day for Willmar though, belting a home run to send the game to extra innings.
In the 10th, Willmar plated the go-ahead run on a groundout and brought two more in to score with bases-loaded walks.
An outstanding outing from Express starting pitcher Justin Revels was wasted by a lack of run support. He pitched 8q innings and struck out six. The only run he allowed was the homer in the ninth.
