ALICE numbers

In Eau Claire County, 42 percent of households either live in poverty or struggle financially, according to a recently released study. That figure is lowest, at 18 percent, in the town of Pleasant Valley and highest, at 67 percent, in the village of Fairchild. 

The following figures show the number of people in poverty or meeting the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) standard in other counties in this part of the state.

•  Barron — 43 percent

•  Buffalo — 36 percent

•  Chippewa — 36 percent

•  Clark — 42 percent

•  Dunn — 42 percent

•  Jackson — 42 percent

•  Pepin — 40 percent

•  Rusk — 45 percent

•  Trempealeau — 37 percent
