Gov. Scott Walker will not appear at a rally in Eau Claire on Saturday because of a scheduling conflict, according to Brian Westrate, chairman of the Eau Claire County Republican Party.

The governor will be unable to attend the Stand With Walker rally organized by the county GOP because he already was booked to be in the La Crosse area all day with Wisconsin National Guard members and their families.

The event still will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Ramada Convention Center in downtown Eau Claire.

noring, his people are bailing out as the FBI closes in. Give it time and the truth will come shining through like the star on a holiday tree.

    carl2532,

The interest to me is how his team is handling his public appearances. Yes he is in double trouble because his team is making bad choices.

Change of time, low turnout, are two things you dont do if you want to create confidence in leadership.

This was an instance where the topical importance could have trumped the Recall. His people are fighting and they goofed.

Was this tree ceremony for just the christian military or did it include Jews, hinduism, judaism, zoroastrianism, buddhism, shinto, confucianism, jainism, taoism, islam et al? Perhaps in his trying to look so christian, he neglected and insulted the rest of the military faiths. Onward christian soldier, your enemy is within.

Gov. Walker lost big because his supporters didn't turn the tree lighting ceremony (meant to honor military members and veterans) into a political campaign stop? If the recall process is going to be judged by how big of a crowd you turn out at the tree lighting ceremony, I hope you win. I want my side to be working on Friday morning... not protesting or campaigning. Our lives don't revolve around the recall.

"Where are his troops??"... they have jobs. Gov. Walker supporters don't need to have a big rally or showing... all that is needed is for each to cast a simple vote once you have all your signatures.

    Chuckie33,

I totally agree with your assessment.

Notice walker lit the tree this AM. His team is scrambling for devices and excuses. He lost big on this one where his team could have rallied the troops to the earlier lighting and saved face. But - NO - there were less people at the ceremony than ever? Why would that be??? Where are his troops???

A big faux pas on his team. Big derision growing and people are looking to jump ship. Like I said before and now - let's look to the weekend for more inaction.

noring, you have to watch the TV ads the Koch Brothers bought him. He claims to have solved the problems of Wisconsin. Kinda funny that the majority of people seeing these ads are home, without jobs and getting madder by the minute. Recall signatures increase with every showing, sweet.

Whew - what a long list of posts. Sorry I have been working too hard and not able to help on the recall even.

Did you read the article on LT "Job creation tax credits falling short in states"

Fascinating how tax dollars are spent before they are collected.

Walker has not connected dots from the deficit to the actual problem. When Walker lies about all government workers as the deficit problem and encourages people to "dis" ALL teachers, then I am done with him.

I am not a union worker nor a government worker.

I am a businessman that wants all businesses to play by the same rules. Government does not create jobs.

27,600 Wisconsinites have lost their jobs since scatt walker signed his anti-work budget into law. I bet they signed the recall petition.

RB, I am part of a very large group of taxpayers/voters that want to see walker kicked out of office. Where have you been these past months? walker is getting recalled and it isn't the work of one. It isn't just the Unions or teachers, it is law enforcement, EMTs, Firemen, nurses, and the list goes on. We are the 99%

I agree. I have collected signatures several days now and the signers included people from all walks of life including many hunters and farmers from the surrounding rural community. Many volunteered the reasons they were signing which included loss of health care and fear that they and families and friends will lose more of their health care with the impeding legislation related to cutting of BadgerCare. Some county workers signed saying that with Walker signing the budget bill that will not allow counties to share equipment for work, the costs of mandated contracting (via Walker's budget) have increased and they have less money for regular road work, equipment maintenance, etc. These reason affected them and their families and communities.

I sincerely agree on that point carl2532 but that hasn't been too successful in the past. Perhaps it will be different with you. I do agree that Union membership should not be mandatory but also feel they should not be banned. Much like the freedom of religion.

I'm not sure what the perfect solution is yet... but that doesn't mean the current system isn't flawed and we shouldn't work to improve it. It would be nice if we could have more intelligent political discussions focused on trying to fix the problems rather than ranting, shouting matches back and forth that don't do anyone any good.

What's your solution carl? You say the job market lacks incentives thus people on unemployment are better of collecting unemployment than working. You also blame the system. So carl, what is your solution?WI is in the #1 position for unemployment and jobs lost, scottie put us there. walker is a disease and the cause of a lot of problems in this State. Getting rid of him will be getting rid of the disease and his replacement will take care of the healing. It's time to cut out the cancer and begin the healing process. You xcan always keep ing contact by phone or EMail.

Ok, you can't just lie. I don't want your money... I want the recall effort to pay for itself so it doesn't cost the state money. All of the signers give $1 and you would be well on your way to paying for the recall. If you don't think that's worth it, fine.

I did not cut down those families on unemployment. I have family members and friends on unemployment and completely understand why it's important. I will continue to cut down on the structure of unemployment and the system. I asked where the incentive is for people to get a job if the state pays you more not to. Why would someone go deliver pizzas or get a part time retail job over the holidays and then lose unemployment benefits that are higher paying? The problem is NOT the people on unemployment. I blame the system for not creating incentives.

Well said carl my man. If it's a couple bucks you need, stop by the office. We have hot coffee and food if you are hungry. I will even buy you a coat at WallWorld if you are cold. You see carl, a lot have people have lost jobs and were promised jobs by scatt walker. Now we lead the nation in jobs lost. Are you getting the picture I am painting carl baby? This is not a non-ending back and forth carl buddy, this will all go away when the recall goes down. In your post a page over, you cut down those families that were on unemployment. Now, it's back to bite you. Bet you wish you could take that back but just like walker, it's too late now.

Go back to the recall office tomorrow and then come right back on here to whine some more about Gov. Walker before going back to the recall office. If our taxes have to go to recall elections for political reasons on either side that's a poor use of them. Donate your $1-$2 to help pay for your shameful recall election so the taxpayer dollars can go to the actual people you claim to fight for.

Governor Walker has my support and vote. That will be good enough for me. Not worth a non-ending back and forth.

Seems we have a couple of boys that need a nap and a lesson on losing. I doubt there would be this kind of reaction if their one eyed hero was safe from the wrath of recall. No carl, getting signatures is not the same as getting votes, what a profound enlightenment, thanks. I will take that one back to the recall office tomorrow and share. I won't be donating that dollar or two for this recall. I paid my taxes and we will all share in this cost. Think of it as a Xmas present to the State of Wisconsin. RB, it doesn't matter where we get these signatures but most were right off the streets from intelligent hard working taxpayers that are sick of the scatt walker two-step. Too bad you are so busy whining and and licking your wounds to notice the two excellent candidates we have to choose from to take scatt-rat's place this spring. walker stomped a lot of people and blamed way too many for problems that was not their doing. I am tired of seeing my money going to the rich and big businesses. walker will go in 2012. If RB and carl were not worried, they wouldn't be writing. Night boys, here's to a better Wisconsin.

Nice article RB. Helps when you can support your viewpoints with examples and data. Too bad they are trying to recall Walker before all the numbers come back and the local school districts realize how great he has been for the state. The longer Walker stays in office the more obvious his successes will become and the more people will recognize he is doing the right thing to keep our state fiscally strong.

Better get back out and collect more signatures because when the results of Walker's leadership come in there will be ZERO chance of voting him out.

And I see this is 1,346 posts for you... maybe some of us have other things going on in our lives other than ranting about Governor Walker on the LT website. Must be boring going from the computer screen out to gather signatures and then right back here again.

Getting enough signatures isn't the same as getting enough votes... and you still need a candidate. I don't doubt they will exceed the necessary number of signatures all so we can spend over $600,000 of the state's money to "reelect" our Governor. Must be a part of the Dems jobs plan to get more state workers for the recall election. Remember to donate your $1-$2 when you sign your sheet so the taxpayers don't have to pay for this shameful recall attempt.

chuckie33, have you been in the "real" world yet?? My guess is that you are just another brainwashed individual who has no clue about what life is like outside of mommy's apron strings. Think for yourself for once in your life! I dare you to read the web article that I added above! Also, as for the 301,000 recall signatures in 12 days; most of these were obtained outside of campus doors where people like you (have no clue about the real world) signed it because you were told to by. Grow up and think for yourself, or go back to your mommy's basement! WALKER FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!

With 301,000 recall signatures in 12 days, I would say there are a lot of "walker haters" out there, RB. I have my fact straight RB and one fact that you need to get straight is walker is gone by spring, reality bites, doesn't it RB. I see this is your first post yet you seem experienced in this media. Hmmmm.....will be interesting to see who you were last month. Your style will tell. Reality bites indeed, you are about to get bit. Recall walker!

We are the 99%, the ones paying the taxes that walker gives to the big corporations and very rich. The real world, last I checked RB is in the process of recalling a very poor governor. Uneducated, kicked out of college for illegal practices, etc. This is the man were will replace in Madison with one worthy of the title, Governor of Wisconsin. Sour Grapes RB, and yes, reality does bite. It's about to bite the reugs squarely on the backside. Public workers are paying their fair share w/o any complaint so find another horse to whip, that one is long gone as walker will be in the very near future. Yes, reality bites.

It looks like Chuckie33 is a "Walker hater." Must be part of a teacher or government union. Well Chuckie33, get your facts straight, Walker did what he said he was going to do, that's why he got elected. Only an idiot would want to get rid of a governor that has brought more positive change to the state of Wisconsin in 1 year than the democratic governor Doyle did in his whole time in office! People need to tell the teachers unions and the government unions that it is time to live life like the rest of us and pay for what you get. Maybe then our schools will have teachers that actually care about the students, and we won't have to listen to five different answering machines when we call our local government center. Join the REAL world chuckie33!!

jayvee, of the alleged 775 layoffs you mentioned, most if not all were rehired from the 30,000 jobs openings that very same month. In other words, they sought greener pastures and are back earning a living, mostly Union jobs. Thanks again for the information on IL work status. WI could use such an alternative. [wink]

Chicago has been in financial trouble for over a decade. I certainly can't and won't speak for these people but obviously the workers involved considered this a better solution than the options offered. I guess when comparing apples to oranges you get fruits. Fruits writing in and drawing conclusions from unrelated article from out of state newspapers. Were you down there or have any firsthand knowledge of these negociations or did you just comb the papers and found an article that supports whatever you happen to be crowing about today. Google on jayvee and leave the recall to the "Big Boys."

Cook County OKs budget with taxes, 775 layoffs
    Posted: Nov 18, 2011 5:48 PM CST
    Updated: Nov 18, 2011 5:59 PM CST
CHICAGO (AP) - Cook County has approved a budget that closes a $315 million shortfall with new taxes on alcohol and tobacco and cuts that will result in nearly 800 layoffs.

The Chicago Tribune reports (http://trib.in/umLbHH) that Illinois' most populous county will now charge for parking at courthouses, with some exemptions. Taxes on car purchases, boats and other titled property will go up. And the county's cigarette tax will now apply to cigars and loose tobacco, with those hikes phased in over two years.

A total of 775 layoffs are also part of the deal after county board president Tony Preckwinkle and county unions couldn't agree on a plan to have workers take unpaid days off.

Board commissioners approved the plan Friday.

I wonder if this is a ploy so anti-walker groups don't max out Barstow and the connecting streets or if walker just doesn't need a rally, he needs money. Just not enough in Eau Claire to make it profitable. Either way it is good he practices his duck, dodge and hide routine. He's gonna need it in the next 48 days. This is beginning to shape up into a real kick-butt, snot slinging battle with only one taking the beating. Should have listened. scottie me boy, you should have listened.
