Veteran sees rise in patriotism since bin Laden death

For local Air Force veteran Karie Wallace, the death this week of Sept. 11 mastermind Osama bin Laden means one thing: validation for controversial wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Wallace, a UW-Eau Claire student who grew up in Bloomer and served in parts of the Middle East during U.S.-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, also hopes it means at least one more thing: an increase in patriotism.
