Virgine C. Cloutier of Wabasha, MN, age 91, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016. She was born on December 10, 1924 in Bloomer, WI to Henry and Mary (Black) Smith. Virgine married her first husband, Robert E. Swanson in January of 1946 and later divorced. She then married Darcy M. Cloutier in February of 1962. Virgine was a proud graduate of New Auburn High School at the age 16. She taught at Eau Claire Teachers College graduating at age 18. She taught at Duncan Creek School for 2 years and then went on to a short war time career as a street car conductor in Minneapolis. She spent the next several years as a homemaker and mother, and rejoined the workforce as a program counselor with WestCAP. She moved on to a career with the United States Post Office, retiring at the age of 74.
Margaret Nadean Witt, 83, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Stanley, passed away on Friday, June 24 at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire surrounded by her adult children.

Madison — Clifford Rodney Johnson died June 25, 2016. He was born to Victor Johnson and Laura (Mickelson) Johnson on June 12, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN. At age 4 the family moved to a farm in ND. The following year they moved to the Willie and Aida Mickelson farm where they lived until age 11. Cliff attended a one-room school house. Cliff graduated from Gilmington High School. He participated in track, basketball, and baseball. Cliff ran the high hurdles at the 1945 State track meet in Madison.
Lorraine B. Anderson, age 86, of Chippewa Falls and formerly of Stanley, died on Thursday, June 23, 2016.
Wesley W. Johnson, 91, of Menomonie died on June 24, 2016. Wes was born in Vasa, MN. He grew up there, together with his older brother, Don, as a member of Vasa Lutheran Church which at that time still conducted services in Swedish as well as English. After graduation from high school in Red Wing, MN, Wes enlisted in the army during WWII where he was trained as an aerial navigator earning his commission as lieutenant just as the war came to an end. Wes attended school in River Falls (now UWRF) where he graduated with a degree in agricultural education. Following graduation, Wes went to work for the Department of Agriculture, Farmer’s Home Administration, retiring in 1985 as District Director, through which it was Wes’s great pleasure to get to know so many wonderful people throughout Dunn County’s rural and farming community.

Mary Ellen Gmeiner Hutterli, 88, died June 4, 2016, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, WI. She was born on January 3, 1928 in Waupaca, Wisconsin to Archibald R. Gmeiner and Virginia M. Carley Gmeiner.
Ardis Stella (Nelson) McAfee, 101, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at her residence.
Caroline M. Schmitt, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Providence Place Assisted Living Center in Drums, PA. She was born December 15, 1932 to William and May (Perdelwitz) Smiley in Ludington Twp., WI. She was a resident of Eau Claire the majority of her life until moving to PA in 2013.
Trinidad “Trina” Wanson Humphreys, 44, of Altoona, WI passed away quietly at her home with her family beside her after a courageous battle with cancer on June 22, 2016. Trina was born on a stormy day on August 9, 1971 in La Trinidad, Benguet. She was the oldest daughter of Jane Solano Wanson and Crispin Cely Wanson of La Trinidad, Benguet, Phillipines.
