Janice Virginia Reidt, age 92, found peace and left this world to be with her Lord on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 at Above and Beyond Elderly Care.
She was born Oct. 28, 1924 in Menomonie, WI to Oliver and Beulah (Denning) Thompson. Janice attended school and graduated in Menomonie.
In 1942, Janice married Donovan Reidt. Together they had six children, Robert, Dennis, Donovan, Susan, Carol and Lori. Janice and Donovan were later divorced. Janice worked many years in the bakery at Don’s Super Valu, retiring on Nov. 30, 1987.
Janice was devoted to her family and church serving many, many hours at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on the Altar Guild and Ladies Aide.
She loved gardening, creating floral arrangements, doing ceramics, dancing and band concerts at Wilson Park every Tuesday during the summer. The past six years while living at Above and Beyond Janice took great pleasure in going to the Senior Centers around the area to enjoy meals, activities and holiday parties. With walker in hand she danced the afternoon away along with her Above and Beyond family.
Janice is survived by her children, Robert Reidt of Altoona, Dennis Reidt of Fond du Lac, Susan Fedderly of Menomonie, Carol Schindler of Menomonie, Lori (Tom) Lemke of Menomonie; daughter-in-law, Linda Reidt of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Robert (Cheryl) Reidt Jr., Tracy Reidt, Wade (April) Reidt, Matthew Reidt (Joely), Christopher Reidt (Katie) and Sara Reidt, Jodi (Brandon) Maurer, Eric (Chrystal) Reidt, Shannon Seeger (Brady), Dustin Sabby and Angie Kurschner; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends and her extended family, Jay and Darcy Boda and the staff at Above and Beyond.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Beulah; brothers, Marvin and Kenneth Thompson; son, Donovan Reidt; granddaughter, Jennifer Brown; son-in-law, Dale Schindler; daughter-in-law, Diane Reidt; and many aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie. With Pastor Heather Wigdahl officiating. There will be visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn Co. WI.
