Evelyn Leona Rolland, 100, of Bloomer, and formerly of Altoona, WI, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Bloomer.
She was born in Bloomer, Wisconsin, on August 27, 1916, the daughter of Wesley F. Knowlton and Lavina Deroscher Knowlton. She spent her formative years in Bloomer and settled in Altoona after her July 7, 1940 marriage to Carl F. Olsen. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1968. She later married Jean D. Rolland, who preceded her in death on March 1, 1999. Her younger sister Ruth preceded her in death on April 11, 2008. She lived in her Hetzel’s Rose Garden Apartment until she moved to the Residential Care Unit in 2012. She moved to the Nursing Care Unit two years later and resided there at the time of her death.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol (Robert) Books of Pensacola, FL, and Patricia (Ron) Melvin of Calabash, NC; a son, Michael Olsen of Bloomer; stepchildren, Cindy (Craig) Thompson of Rapid City, SD, Gene (Marjorie) Rolland of Stoughton, WI; granddaughters, Dawn (Jason) Kosanke of Slinger, WI, Cheryl (Mike) Berry of Marshville, NC, Stephanie Bainbridge of Calabash, NC, Melissa Olsen of Columbia, MD, and Shannon (Jake) Magier of Canby, OR. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Jacqueline Gurley, Brooke Gurley, Charles and Bethany Berry, Andrew and Alyssa Pasden, Grant and Savannah Kosanke, Gracie Williams, and Holden and Harlow Magier as well as nieces Judy (Duane) Coubal, Corene (Terry) Bohn, and nephews Gary (Nancy) Boese, David (Mary) Boese, Steve (Susan) Kaiser, Robert Kaiser, and Dean Olsen.
The family would like to thank the Atrium staff and its predecessor owners and staff for the care given to Evelyn during her long residence. They would also like to thank the relatives, friends and clergy in the area who took time to visit her.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2017, at Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home & Chippewa Valley Cremation Services in Bloomer, with Pastor Susan Anderson officiating. Burial was held in Rest Haven Cemetery in the Eau Claire County Town of Washington immediately following the service.
