Bernadette “Bunnie” A. Koehler, 90, of Bloomer, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Dove Healthcare in Bloomer with her family at her side.
She was born April 17, 1927, in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Anton and Wihelmina (Geissler) Zenner. Bunnie was raised on the family farm in Tilden before moving to Chippewa Falls where she graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School.
On September 28, 1949, Bunnie married Howard “Howie” Koehler at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Together they raised five children as she worked in the home caring for her family.
Bunnie was a woman of deep faith who devoted her life to her family and church. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church where she volunteered her time keeping the church clean and organized daily. Her hobbies included walking and biking as well baking and canning.
Bunnie is survived by her children, Michael (Pat) Koehler of Ladysmith, Patrick Koehler of Eau Claire, Therese (Darrell) Pagenkopf of Bloomer, Carol (Randy) Seidling of Chippewa Falls, and Peter (Jackie) Koehler of Nekoosa; six grandchildren, Eric (Jennifer) Pagenkopf, Janel (Zech) Gotham, Lance & Logan Seidling, and Matthew & Laura Koehler; four great-grandchildren, Connor & Grace Pagenkopf, and Caleb & Andrew Gotham; brother-in-law, Joseph “Bud” Koehler; sisters-in-law, Gertie Bresina and Eunice Zenner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howie; parents; brothers, Dr. Clarence, Sylvan, Earl, Cyril, and Alan Zenner; sisters, Mable Baier, Irene Bresina, and her twin sister, Toni Eder.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2018, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer with Father Victor Feltes celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow Mass at St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Bloomer. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer and again Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m. and Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Sunday, both at the funeral home.
She is a woman of Strength and dignity…. When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything she says….
