As the Leader-Telegram's special projects editor, Lindquist is responsible for writing or editing many of the newspaper's in-depth and investigative stories. He previously served as special projects reporter, business editor, business reporter, homes editor and sports reporter at the Leader-Telegram. In addition to receiving statewide awards for investigative reporting, public service, business coverage and spot news, sports and feature stories, Lindquist has been a national finalist in the Associated Press Managing Editors Public Service Awards Competition, the Investigative Reporters and Editors Awards and the Associated Press Sports Editors National Contest. He also was part of a team that received first place nationally for investigative reporting in the Inland Press Association's Local Public Affairs News Contest. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with majors in journalism and political science.
Tom Giffey has been the Leader-Telegram's editorial page editor since November 2006. His career at the Leader-Telegram began as an intern in 1999, and he subsequently worked in the newspaper's Chippewa Falls News Bureau and as political reporter and business editor in the Eau Claire newsroom. Giffey, a Dodgeville native, holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science from UW-Madison.
Espe writes general assignment stories for the Leader-Telegram, where he started in July 2001. Before that, he wrote for newspapers in Rice Lake, Waukesha and Panama City, Fla. He has won five state awards during his eight-year career. He graduated with a degree in journalism at the University of Minnesota.
O’Brien, an Altoona High School graduate, joined the Leader-Telegram in 1998. During her 10 years at the newspaper, O’Brien has covered the city of Eau Claire, Eau Claire County and politics. Now the Leader-Telegram’s health and pets editor, she also covers education, transportation, Eau Claire County Civil Court and other general assignment pieces. She also worked as a reporter in Wausau and Marinette. O’Brien earned a bachelor’s degree in print journalism and English from UW-Eau Claire.
Lyksett is the online editor, reporter and columnist for the Leader-Telegram. He has been with the newspaper since 1983. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
Poling has been the assistant local news editor at the Leader-Telegram since 2005 after 16 years as the news wire editor. He joined the Leader-Telegram in 1982 as a sports reporter and became assistant sports editor in the mid-1980s. He has been a news columnist since 1993.
Emerson is a Leader-Telegram news reporter covering Eau Claire County, the city of Altoona and the Altoona school district. In addition, Emerson also is Home and Garden section editor. Emerson has worked at the Leader-Telegram for the past four and one-half years and used to cover Eau Claire schools.
Liam Marlaire has been the Leader-Telegram's business editor since May 2007. He first worked for the newspaper as sports reporter and sports editor. A Madison native, Marlaire holds a bachelor's degree in political science from UW-Milwaukee and has been working in print journalism since 1996. He previously published a regional business magazine and got started in the industry at the Rhinelander Daily News.
