Partisans shouldn't draw political maps

It's easy to wag fingers at Wisconsin Republicans for their blatant attempt to gerrymander the state's legislative and congressional districts to boost their party's electoral chances. In this post-census year, Republicans control both houses of the Legislature and the governor's office, and thus have the ability to draw boundaries in a way that benefits their party. Despite protests by Democrats and a number of nonpartisan groups, that's what they are poised to do.

This gerrymandering will have two results: Republicans will have a strong electoral advantage, and - much more seriously - the once temperate political climate in Wisconsin will grow even more heated and polarized.

Actually some interesting points in the rpeauclaire video.

It doesn't take a video to understand that putting everybody and their cousins on disability and welfare is going to hurt the people.

It doesn't take a video to understand that schools will fail if they pay people 100% of healthcare and a early pension from age 55 to 65.

It doesn't take a video to understand that paying 10 to 30 cents of the expected cost of Medicare for an entire nation is going to further bankrupt America.

It doesn't take a video to understand that paying >600 billion a year for the military and foreign aid is going to further bankrupt America.

It doesn't take a video to understand that loosing >>>10 million manufacturing jobs to unfair free trade agreements is going to further bankrupt America.

rpeauclaire - I often think of our path compared to the Romans where eventually everyone lines the streets waiting for govt bailouts. I fear America is too far down the entitlement path to regain its balance. Time will tell. Interesting video.

    My family is 100% independent.

I 100% guarantee finding one single person in the state of WI that is "NONPARTISAN" is 100% impossible.

The question I must ask citizens is why we have to have elect someone to vote for us? My family is 100% able to vote on bills or tax increases/decreases or school contracts or road projects or any other issue currently voted on by strangers. My family pays taxes to the state of WI and the federal govt on line. It's time to save millions of gallons of gas and make voting easier for the people. Simply link the income tax address and social security to the voting district.

Maintain elected officials exactly as we do today with the final approval of bills being voted on monthly by we the people.

Representation made sense when it took days or weeks to simply send a message. Representation makes no sense today.
