In the tight-knit Eau Claire hockey community, it's nearly impossible to hide from success.

For every Andy Akervik or Jake Dowell the city produces, an  avalanche of local interest overtly tags along to each successive stop in their rise up the national, college and professional ranks. It's the steadfast support of a community that feels tightly linked to its local talent.

This is great to see. Best of luck to Guy Brown, Mike Schwengler and the new North High coach this season. Coach Loen is right, "Competition breeds better players." And Eau Claire is bursting with good players coming up through Youth Hockey.
Also thanks to Coach Hickey for giving all he's got to kids no matter where they come from: Eau Claire, Altoona, Chippewa Falls, Rice Lake, Hudson, Black River Falls and more.
Eau Claire has great hockey coaches from little kids all the way up through college. Our kids are very lucky.
