The Eau Claire Children’s Theatre kicked off its 30th year this Friday and Saturday by holding three celebratory events, including an open house. The ECCT’s “Be Our Guest” Open House was held Saturday morning and afternoon, offering free and interactive family-friendly activities. Friday’s event featured Dancing with the Eau Claire Stars, while Saturday evening hosted a 21-years-and-older event, Drag Queens and Desserts. Both evening events required tickets. Open

Between planning three events for next week-end and directing rehearsals for the organization’s first production of the season, the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre’s executive director hasn’t had a lot of time to reflect on what it means to “turn 30.” But that’s the anniversary ECCT is celebrating this season — with Wayne Marek at the helm since it started in 1988. “You don’t realize it has been 30 years,” he said.
