An Eau Claire man is accused of trying to rob a Canadian truck driver at a town of Union gas station. The man attempted to rob the truck driver with a toy handgun, authorities said. Shane T. Pagel, 22, 2914 Arbutus Drive, was charged Tuesday in Eau Claire County Court with a felony count of attempted armed robbery. A $5,000 cash bail was set for Pagel, who returns to court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing. As a condition of bail, Pagel cannot have contact with Mega Holiday stores.
A Florida man is accused of installing two credit card skimmers on pumps at an Eau Claire gas station. Henry Gonzalez Lopez, 35, of Miami is charged in Eau Claire County Court with a felony count of conspiring to improperly use a credit card scanning device. A warrant was issued for his arrest. An Eau Claire man has been sentenced to 42 months in prison for operating while intoxicated for the eighth time since 1992. John J. Bangart, 58, 1611 Western Ave., pleaded no contest recently in Eau Claire County Court to a felony count of eighth-offense operating with a prohibited blood alcohol level. An Eau Claire man is accused of an unprovoked physical assault of another man sitting at Phoenix Park. Christopher J. Dubois told police he kicked the man in the face because he could do whatever he wanted, indicating he was “above the law.” Dubois, 30, was charged Thursday in Eau Claire County Court with felony counts of aggravated battery and threat to a family member of a law enforcement officer, and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and bail jumping.
