Besides the contested race between Shaughnessy Murphy and Sarah Harless in Eau Claire County’s Branch 5 judicial election, other judge races will be featured in five area counties on April 3. Two of those judicial elections will be in Eau Claire County. Eau Claire attorney Emily Long will run unopposed for the Branch 3 seat being vacated this year by Judge William Gabler, who intends to retire when his term ends this summer. CHIPPEWA FALLS — A plan to keep Stillson Elementary School in the town of Lafayette failed Tuesday on a 3-3 vote. With board member Pat Allen on vacation, the Chippewa Falls school board couldn’t agree on where the new $22 million elementary school should be located if a $65 million referendum is approved by voters in April. The board had previously decided to build the new school on a 19-acre parcel it owns east of the intersection of Highways I and 178, east of HSHS St.
