Chamber sets date for downtown walk

The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting employees of local businesses to take a stroll downtown at mid-day on Wednesday, July 18.

The annual Business Community Downtown Wellness Walk will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. starting at the chamber office, 101 N. Farwell St., where participants sign in and can pick routes that highlight riverfront views, outdoor art displays and other downtown sights.

The event is free, but online registration is encouraged and makes participants eligible for door prizes.

Class teaches basics of business plans

An evening class on the basics of creating a business plan will be Wednesday in Eau Claire.

“Business Plan Basics” will be 6 to 9 p.m. at Western Dairyland Business Center, 418 Wisconsin St.

Kelly Berry, owner of Altoona small business consulting firm ResourceAbility, will lead the class.

Small business owners, entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners will learn how to create a business plan that can be presented to lenders and start a new venture.

The course costs $29, but scholarships are available to income-eligible people.
