Sign-making business opens on South Hastings Way

A new sign-making business opened last week in Eau Claire.

Linda and Steve Otto opened a Signarama franchise at 1612 S. Hastings Way.

Part of a chain with more than 700 locations, Signarama produces signs and graphics for businesses.

The Eau Claire location is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Small business tax chat will be on Tuesday in downtown

A Tuesday evening workshop in downtown Eau Claire will provide tax advice for small business owners.

The business tax chat will be 6 to 8 p.m. at Western Dairyland Community Action Agency, 418 Wisconsin St.

Small business owners, especially those who will be filing taxes for the first time, will learn about topics including home office space, reporting sales tax, setting aside employment taxes and tracking travel miles.

Amy Vik, tax adviser and enrolled agent for H& R Block, will lead the presentation, which is sponsored by Western Dairyland, the Western Wisconsin chapter of SCORE and H& R Block.

Registration costs $10.
