National Presto Industries reported a 6.3 percent sales increase in the Eau Claire-based company’s second quarter.
The company’s net sales were $4.7 million higher in the quarter that ended on July 1 than they were in the same three months during 2017, according to a Friday news release.
Presto’s two business segments saw similar sales boosts of over 6 percent, but for different reasons.
Housewares and small appliances saw sales growth primarily due to timing of customer orders, according to a statement from company president Maryjo Cohen. Presto’s defense segment’s sales growth largely were the results of shipments from its backlog.
Overall, the recent quarter brought net earnings of about $10.8 million for the company, compared to $9.7 million in the second quarter of 2017.
